About Honda / Civic Type-R
The Honda (sold as Acura in some markets) NSX Type-R is a high-performance variant of the iconic Honda NSX sports car. The Type-R designation signifies a more track-focused and performance-oriented version of the NSX, known for its enhanced power, reduced weight, improved aerodynamics, and optimized handling characteristics. Here’s an overview of the Honda / Acura NSX Type-R
1. First Honda Civic (1992–2005):
The first-generation Honda NSX Type-R was introduced in 1992. It featured weight reduction measures such as a lighter aluminum body, carbon fiber components, and a stripped-down interior. The suspension was retuned for better handling, and the engine received upgrades to improve power output. The first-gen NSX Type-R became renowned for its precise handling and driver-focused experience. A car curb weight of 2800 lbs (1270 kgs), the NSX -R has a naturally-aspirated V 6 cylinder engine, Petrol motor, with the engine code C32B.
2. Second Honda Civic (2016-present):
After a hiatus, Honda introduced the second-generation NSX (the Acura NSX in some markets) in 2016. As of my knowledge, as of September 2021, a Type-R variant of the second-generation NSX has not been officially released. However, Honda and Acura have a history of introducing Type-R versions of their performance models, so a future NSX Type-R may be possible.
If a Type-R variant of the second-generation NSX were to be released, it would likely follow the same principles as the previous Type-R models: increased performance, reduced weight, and improved aerodynamics. It may feature a more powerful engine, sportier suspension tuning, enhanced aerodynamic elements, and a stripped-down interior to save weight.
It’s important to note that the availability and specifications of the NSX Type-R may vary depending on the market and specific release plans by Honda or Acura. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it’s advisable to refer to official announcements from the manufacturer or authorized dealerships.
With a curb weight of 2800 1270 kg, the NSX-R has a naturally aspirated V-6 cylinder engine, a petrol motor, with the engine code C32B. The engine produces a maximum power of 280 PS (276 bhp or 206 kW) at 7300 rpm and a maximum torque of 304.0 Nm (224 lb-ft) at 7300 rpm.
