Toyota Celica GT-Four
The Toyota Celica GT-Four, also known as the Toyota Celica GT4 or Toyota Celica All-Trac Turbo in some markets, is a high-performance sports car that was produced by Toyota from 1986 to 1999. It was developed as a rally-inspired variant of the regular Toyota Celica.
The GT-Four models were equipped with a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system and turbocharged engines, which made them highly capable both on and off the road. The drivetrain setup provided improved traction and stability, allowing the Celica GT-Four to excel in various driving conditions, including challenging terrain and adverse weather.
The early generations of the Celica GT-Four were powered by a turbocharged 3S-GTE engine, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant known for its performance potential and durability. Over the years, the engine underwent several updates and improvements, resulting in increased power outputs.
In addition to the advanced drivetrain, the Celica GT-Four featured various performance enhancements, such as stiffer suspension, larger brakes, and aerodynamic improvements. These modifications enhanced the car’s handling capabilities, allowing it to tackle corners and rough terrains with agility and confidence.
The Celica GT-Four also had a distinctive and aggressive appearance. It often featured wider fenders, a rear spoiler, and unique styling elements that set it apart from the standard Celica models. The design elements were not only visually appealing but also functional, contributing to improved aerodynamics and cooling.
The Celica GT-Four gained significant recognition and success in the world of rallying. It competed in various rally championships, including the World Rally Championship (WRC), where it achieved multiple victories and accolades. The success on the rally stage further enhanced the car’s reputation as a performance-oriented sports car.
In 1999, Toyota discontinued the Celica GT-Four along with the entire Celica lineup, shifting its focus to other models and market demands. However, the Celica GT-Four remains a beloved and sought-after car among rally enthusiasts and fans of high-performance vehicles.
